Philodendron cf. lupinum (Philodendron vanninii Croat ined.) | Plug P3 H10 cm | Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Toxic to pets
Summary: This ultra-rare Philodendron plug is a dream for collectors, showcasing velvety leaves and remarkable growth potential. Perfect for nurturing into a showpiece in your European home.
✨ Why You'll Love the Philodendron cf. lupinum
- Velvety, heart-shaped juvenile leaves with a deep green sheen
- Compact starter size (P3, H10 cm) – ideal for collectors who love to watch rare plants mature
- Rarely available in Europe, a true treasure for aroids lovers
- Future large-leafed climber with dramatic transformation as it matures
🌞 Light & Placement
Provide bright, indirect light to bring out the deep velvet texture of its foliage. Avoid direct sun, which can damage the delicate young leaves. A warm spot near an east-facing window is ideal.
💧 Water & Humidity
Keep soil lightly moist, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between waterings. High humidity (60–80%) is essential for optimal growth—perfect for greenhouses, terrariums, or humidified rooms in Germany and across Europe.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use an airy, chunky aroid mix with bark, perlite, and coco coir. Being a plug, it will need to be potted up carefully into a small nursery pot, gradually scaling up as roots establish.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Warning: Like most Philodendrons, this species is toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Juvenile plants produce velvety heart-shaped leaves, while mature plants develop larger, more elongated foliage with striking texture. Can be propagated through stem cuttings once established and vining.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
During the active growing season (spring and summer), provide monthly liquid fertilizer. Reduce watering and feeding in winter. A moss pole or climbing support will help it reach its full potential.
🐛 Common Issues
- Leaf yellowing: usually a sign of overwatering
- Brown tips: caused by low humidity or underwatering
- Slow growth: often due to insufficient warmth or light
