DESCRIPTION

Mayan hammocks have lots of imitators, but there’s only one true traditional Mayan hammock design and this is it. What does that mean? Quality cotton threads more than triple the normal thickness, woven in the traditional diamond pattern for astoundingly strong support. These hammocks can hold an amazing 850 pounds, so don’t be surprised (or panic!) if your lounging is interrupted by the rest of the family, including the dog!

Traditional Mayan hammocks have been made the same way for generations, and today are still woven with the same attention to quality, comfort, and durability in the city of Merida and the northern region of the Mexican Yucatan. Our Mayan hammocks are perfect for lounging and sleeping, with 7-foot-long by 6.5-foot-wide beds. The hammock will get close to 15 feet after a few initial stretches. Some are woven tighter than others, and some looser, depending on the artisan who made it. These are handmade hammocks, and there are variations between all of them. No two are similar. The same goes for the color. 

Please note that your hammock may be slightly shorter or longer than 15 feet after initial use. 15 feet is not an absolute length, and we cannot guarantee its final length after stretch.

** Our Mayan Hammocks are handmade and dyed in a natural way. These hammocks use artisanal dye and not chemical dyes to color the prepared cotton threads. Mayan weavers integrate natural dyes to protect their natural surroundings by reducing the amount of synthetic chemicals involved in the dyeing process. These hammocks are not colorfast so they will bleed and fade quickly under the rain and sun. This being said, it is best to store the hammock after use or you can leave it outdoors as long as it is protected by a hammock cover against the sun and rain.
