Believe it or not, there are other good options for gravel riding than Shimano's standby XT and XTR SPD pedals. Look has quietly been perfecting their SPD compatible platform in recent years. The X-Track Race Carbon boasts a 515 mm² platform area made of carbon to ensure road pedal like power transfer and stability. Meanwhile, they have shaped the geometry of the retention mechanism to ensure easy engagement and release in mud, sand and general gnarly condition. The X-Track Race Carbon Ti gets the additional weight savings of a Titanium spindle. For those seeking something light, stiff and remarkably pro while still retaining the convenience of the SPD cleat platform, this is your pedal.
