Calochortus venustus, commonly known as the Butterfly Mariposa Lily, is one of California’s most spectacular native wildflowers. Found in open woodlands, grassy slopes, and dry meadows throughout the Sierra Nevada and Coast Ranges, this perennial bulb produces an extraordinary range of colors and intricate petal markings that have captivated native plant enthusiasts and botanists alike.
Growing 12 to 28 inches tall, Calochortus venustus sends up slender stems with narrow, grass-like leaves that wither as the plant begins to bloom. From May through July, it produces 1 to several large, cup-shaped flowers per stem. The petals may be white, pink, lavender, orange, or deep red—each adorned with contrasting spots, fringed petal hairs, and a central “eye” that resembles a butterfly’s wing. This intricate patterning gives the plant its common name and attracts native bees and other beneficial pollinators.
Butterfly Mariposa Lily prefers full sun and well-draining soils, such as sandy loam, decomposed granite, or gravelly slopes. It thrives in dry summer conditions and should be allowed to go dormant after blooming. Best sown in fall to align with natural moisture patterns. Ideal for native gardens, rockeries, or restoration areas where dazzling seasonal displays are desired.

My go-to sublimation paper for crafting
Size: 8.5"x11"
I've used several sublimation papers, and this one has worked really well for my crafting projects. The colors transfer bright and vibrant, and the images come out crisp with good detail when using the proper sublimation printer and ink. The paper feeds smoothly through my printer and feels like a good quality weight—not too thin and not overly thick. I've used it for tumblers, keychains, and other sublimation projects, and I've been happy with the results. I also appreciate getting 110 sheets in one pack because it lasts a while, especially when working on multiple projects at once. Overall, this is a reliable sublimation paper that gives consistent results and is great for crafters or small business owners.

Excellent Quality
Size: 11"x17", Size: 11"x17"
This paper is the only paper I have ever tried with my sublimation printer. I get the most vibrant colors with every transfer. I have not experienced any fading even after washing multiple times. I have purchased this paper in letter size, 11x17, as well as 13x19 for use on welcome doormats. I have not been disappointed with any. The paper feeds through my printer without issue whether I load a single sheet, or multiples. So far, I've used it to sublimate on dishtowels, garden flags, welcome mats, t shirts, sweatshirts, and mugs. I am always happy with the finished product. I highly recommend this sublimation paper, and it can usually be found at a great price. I advise you to stock up when you see a sale
